Inthanin Collaborates with Bangchak and Government Agencies to Develop Inthanin Single Origin Drip Coffee Special Series: Thep Sadet

The new “Inthanin Single Origin Drip Coffee Special Series” comes from Thep Sadet, Chiang Mai Province through the collaboration of Doisaketpattana Agricultural Co-operative, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Branding, Communication, and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited explained the origins of the project, stating that “Bangchak is committed to sustainable innovative business development in harmony with society and the environment, especially the empowerment of communities as the foundations of the economy and society. The company has developed joint partnership via the Co-operative Service Station since 1990, a model that utilizes the Co-operative’s property to retail petroleum products to members at special prices, from which share of profits are distributed to members as dividends. This ensures community members have access to quality fuels at fair prices. Today Bangchak has over 600 cooperative service stations of more than 1,300 stations across the country, benefitting more than 1 million households in the agricultural sector, or about 4 million people.

Doisaketpattana Agricultural Co-operative is a cooperative service station with a history with Bangchak that stretches back more than 30 years (opening in 1994), and has expanded well beyond the petroleum retail business. Bangchak is delighted to support collaborations for the development of co-op service stations, especially with a Bangchak Group business like Inthanin Coffee and Doisaketpattana Agricultural Co-operative Bangchak co-op service station. The development of a premium coffee like “Thep Sadet” from Doi Saket community, one of the nine renown coffee producing areas in Chiang Mai, to the “Inthanin Drip Coffee: Thep Sadet” is a momentous development of the collaborative efforts of all parties involved.”

Visnu Vongsumitr, Managing Director, Bangchak Retail Company Limited, stated that “This project would not be possible without the support of all parties involved, including Srinual Thaitan, Director, Doisaket Pattana Agricultural Co-operative, and Prayad Sennong, Manager, Doisaket Pattana Agricultural Co-operative, who were the main facilitators of this project. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is the project initiator, liaising with Suzuki Kazuya, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to invite Japanese experts to conduct field work with villagers to study, analyze, and develop Thep Sadet into a premium coffee, providing an opportunity to develop the product for Inthanin Coffee. Lastly, Suriya Kampuang, Inspector General, Cooperative Promotion Department, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the main project facilitator.

Inthanin is a cost-friendly coffee chain that uses 100% Arabica coffee beans, as well as organic Arabica at numerous branches, not only to support farmers, but promote chemical-free organic agriculture.

In the beginning of 2022, Inthanin was contacted by TICA regarding the promotion of products from Doisaket Pattana Agricultural Co-operative, supported by JICA to develop coffee production for the co-op members. Last year, in addition to the plan to launch Inthanin Single Origin Drip Coffee from “Pa Pae” and “Mae Jaem”, Inthanin had selected coffee from Doisaket Pattana Agricultural Co-operative to be retailed under the name “Thep Sadet”.
