Bangchak Group Expands “No Refry” Initiative in Pattaya, Promotes “Fry to Fly” Campaign for SAF Production
Thamarat Paryoonsuk, Senior Executive Vice President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited and President, BSGF Company Limited, a joint venture between Bangchak Corporation, BBGI Public Company Limited, and Thanachok Oil Light Company Limited, along with Nipon Lerttassanee, Executive Vice President, Project Management, Engineering, and Logistics Business, and executives and employees from BSGF Company Limited, participated in the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding and certification of participation in the campaign to promote awareness of the adverse health effects of refrying used cooking oil in Pattaya City, named “No Refry, Travel Safely, Care for Health, Preserve the Environment.” Pattaya City Mayor Poramet Ngampichet chaired the ceremony at Thap Phraya Meeting Room, Pattaya City Hall.
During the event, Thamarat Paryoonsuk, Senior Executive Vice President, Bangchak Corporation, Poramet Ngampichet, Pattaya City Mayor, Tanawat Linjongsubongkot, Managing Director, Thanachok Group, Jitrthep Nuangjamnong Green World UCO Company Limited jointly signed the memorandum of understanding for the “No Refry, Travel Safely, Care for Health, Preserve the Environment” campaign. This collaboration between Bangchak, Pattaya City, Thanachok Vegetable Oil, and Green World aims to support the management of used cooking oil from communities and promote good health and environmental preservation for the people of Pattaya.
Building upon Pattaya’s declaration at the International Health Assembly as a “Safe and Health-Friendly Tourist Destination,” the agreement will implement the management of used cooking, whereby BSGF Co. Ltd. will purchase used cooking oil from Green World Co. Ltd. and Thanachok Vegetable Oil to repurpose for SAF production. It will also raise awareness of the adverse health and environmental effects of refrying used cooking oil and improper disposal in public spaces.
Additionally, Thamarat presented “The Directions and Strategies for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Development to Address the National Strategy of Thailand,” remarking on the Bangchak’s initiative to manage used vegetable oil for biodiesel production in the past and the establishment of BSGF Company Limited to manage used cooking oil for SAF production. This will reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the aviation industry, drive the transition to a low-carbon society, and align comprehensively with the BCG Economic model. Within the event was an exhibition providing information about the “Fry to Fly” campaign which focuses on purchasing used cooking for SAF production.
