Revitalizing Expressway Margins into 15-Minute Pocket Park for Public Benefit, Promoting Green Innovation.
Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, along with Surachet Laophulsuk, Governor, Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), and Benya Inthrawongchot, Director, Khlong Toei District, signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the “Fulfilling Societal Happiness” Commemorative Public Park on the Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary. The project aims to restore and transform the area along the outbound Sukhumvit 50 expressway exit into a pocket park for public benefit. The park commemorates the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 72nd Birthday Anniversary. The signing ceremony was attended by executives from EXAT, the Khlong Toei District Office, and Bangchak and was held along the Chalerm Maha Nakhon, adjacent to the outbound Sukhumvit 50 expressway exit.
The collaborative project, the “Fulfilling Societal Happiness” Commemorative Public Park on the Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary, among the three organizations, aims to develop and expand existing areas through public and private partnerships. The EXAT has granted permission for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, through the Khlong Tori District Office, to use the land within the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway, specifically the vicinity of Sukhumvit 50, to develop into a pocket park. Bangchak will support the design and construction of the area to transform it into a public park for the benefit of the community. The Park will provide residents with access to green spaces for recreation, exercise, and relaxation according to the Bangkok Governor’s 15-Minute Pocket Park policy. In addition to improving the landscape, Bangchak will incorporate green innovation and renewable energy utilization into the park to promote access to clean energy and contribute to fostering a low-carbon society. The project is set to be completed by November. Bangchak also plans to collaborate in creating 15-minute pocket parks in other areas, particularly within the company’s operational zones.
The collaboration to create the Fulfilling Societal Happiness” Commemorative Public Park on the Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024 is part of the “Fulfilling Societal Happiness” project initiated by Bangchak in 2024. The project aims to deliver regenerative happiness and improve the quality of life and well-being of Thais as Bangchak enters its fifth decade of business operation.
