"One Leaf"

Growing Together for a Sustainable Future

Amidst a world of constant challenges and relentless competition, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited has risen to become a prominent leader in the energy sector within the Asia-Pacific region. The company is celebrated for its unwavering commitment to balancing energy security, energy affordability, and environmental sustainability. These achievements are not solely the result of business operations but also stem from the implementation of concrete policies and effective communication, which reflect a clear vision and mission.

We had the opportunity to speak to Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President of Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, to gain insight into Bangchak's approach to sustainability and corporate communication.

Focusing on "Balance"

Gloyta outlined Bangchak’s goals as a socially responsible energy company, stressing the efficient use of resources and the careful consideration of environmental impacts. The company has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and reach Net Zero by 2050 through the BCP316NET plan. This plan focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by improving energy efficiency and developing new technologies for long-term environmental sustainability. "We are also building a Net Zero Ecosystem through collaboration with business partners, communities, and consumers to collectively create a sustainable society," she added.

Gloyta explained that Bangchak operates under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of His Majesty King Rama IX, aiming to balance profit with social and environmental value. The company prioritises conducting business in line with ESG principles (Environment, Social, Governance). "We don’t focus solely on profit but aim to create social and environmental value by making ESG the core of our business for balanced sustainability. This includes environmental stewardship, efficient resource use, fostering community collaboration to develop local economies, and conducting business transparently and responsibly with all stakeholders."

Driving Sustainability through Social Networks

Bangchak promotes sustainability by building social networks, such as the Baimai Punsuk Foundation, which supports youth education, natural resource conservation, and the improvement of the quality of life in Thai society. The foundation focuses on creating social and environmental impact through learning and action. Another example is Oamsuk Social Enterprise, which plays a vital role in supporting agricultural cooperatives and connecting the agricultural sector to improve community livelihoods. Bangchak also leads the establishment of Thailand's first Carbon Markets Club, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions with BCPG Public Company Limited and nine other partners. The club has grown to over 1,200 members, both organisations and individuals. "We strive to create real change, not just within our company, but in the broader society as well," Gloyta explained.

Bangchak's Brand and Reputation Management

Bangchak strengthens its brand with the concept "Greenovate to Regenerate," focusing on innovations that not only protect the environment but also restore nature sustainably. Gloyta highlighted the importance of both internal and external communication in reinforcing trust and confidence in the brand.

For Gloyta, both internal and external communication are critically important. "Within the organisation, we want everyone to clearly understand the company’s goals and their own roles. Meanwhile, external communication helps build understanding and trust with all stakeholders."

Managing the company's reputation in the digital age is an ongoing challenge for Bangchak. Gloyta explained, "Quick, transparent, and direct communication is key to managing crises in an era where information spreads rapidly." In some cases, reactive communication is necessary, but Bangchak also places great importance on preparedness, ensuring the company is ready to handle crises promptly and effectively.

"One Leaf"

The continuous growth of the Bangchak Group brings new challenges, including increasing complexity in resource management, communication, and brand reputation, particularly in the digital age. Gloyta emphasises the importance of working as One Team through the "One Leaf" concept, symbolised by Bangchak's leaf logo. This concept unites communication and operations across all divisions, departments, business groups, and companies within the organisation. By focusing on collaboration, mutual support, and effective communication, the company encourages sharing ideas and resources. This approach ensures synchronised development, shared understanding, and alignment towards common goals, ultimately improving efficiency and making success easier to achieve.

Gloyta firmly believes that strong teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication under the "One Leaf" concept are essential to the Bangchak Group's sustainable growth. Despite increasing challenges and complexity, Bangchak will overcome these obstacles and achieve its goal of being a sustainable organisation, while contributing to a better future for both Thai and global communities.

"The 'One Leaf' concept reflects the collaboration within the Bangchak Group. It not only integrates resource efficiency and creativity to enhance operational and communication effectiveness but also aligns strategy implementation to achieve the goal of becoming a sustainable organisation, fostering a better future for both Thai and global communities."
