Bangchak Launches Project to Develop Phra Khanong District Entrepreneurs Towards Green Industry on World Environment Day

Thamarat Paryoonsuk, Senior Executive Vice President, Refinery and Oil Trading Business Group, and executives from Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, along with Maj. Gen. Siphan Bhanavavanata, Deputy Director-General, Defence Science and Technology Department, the Ministry of Defence, Warunlak Phonharn, Director, Phra Khanong District Office, representatives from S&P Syndicate Public Company Limited, Jaspal Company Limited, Thai TOA Industries Company Limited, Safe-T-Cut (THAILAND) Company Limited, joined the launch of the “Project to Develop Phra Khanong District Entrepreneurs Towards Green Industry” on World Environment Day 2023.

The “Project to Develop Phra Khanong District Entrepreneurs Towards Green Industry” was initiated by Bangchak's recognition of the significance of enhancing environmental quality, which must take into consideration more than end-of-process mitigation and necessitate collaboration between stakeholders. Consequently, Bangchak and the Phra Khanong District Office collaborated to enhance environmental quality management at the original source, starting with the industrial sector. Four companies in Phra Khanong district expressed interest in participating in the first phase of the project including S&P Syndicate Public Company Limited, Jaspal Company Limited, Thai TOA Industries Company Limited, SAFE-T-CUT (Thailand) Company Limited. Bangchak has been accredited Green Industry Level 5 (Highest)evaluation by the Ministry of Industry, demonstrating exemplary environmental management and serving as a consultant for industrial factories in Phra Khanong District to seek future green industry certification.

The launch of “Project to Develop Phra Khanong District Entrepreneurs Towards Green Industry” included an exhibition showcasing schools’ projects under the supervision of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Phra Khanong District Office. These schools are partof the Eco-School project, a collaboration between the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Phra Khanong District Office and the Ruk Pun Suk Junior projects, which is co-operated by Bangchak and SCG Chemicals. The exhibition also featured educational displays such as Thai Rice NAMA and Carbon Markets Club. The event concluded with a tree-planting activity, where participants planted yellow elders, to enhance the scenery along Khlong Bang Or, intended as a model for maintaining public canals in Phra Khanong District, located in front of Bangchak Refinery, Sukhumvit 64.
